AreitoTaino Dance Program
The AreitoTaino After School Ballet Program
The Fall/Summer 2026–2027 program begins with two beginner-level groups—Beginner
A1 and Beginner A2—with each group meeting twice weekly. Each beginner-level group
will consist of 10 students.
Course Objective & Introduction
Areito Dance Program is expanding its performing arts curriculum with a free, comprehensive, year-round children’s ballet program for ages 5–10.
Designed to provide children with strong fundamental ballet training, the program supports them as they grow, explore their creative spirit, and develop a lifelong appreciation for dance. The program introduces children to ballet in a welcoming, community-focused setting.
Learning Goals
Through age-appropriate instruction and consistent practice, children will work toward the following goals:
- Ballet foundations — Learn introductory ballet positions, steps, and classroom practices.
- Posture and alignment — Build body awareness and practice safe, supported alignment.
- Coordination and musicality — Connect movement to rhythm, tempo, and musical phrasing.
- Movement vocabulary — Develop familiarity with age-appropriate ballet and dance terms.
- Discipline and confidence — Strengthen focus, perseverance, self-expression, and confidence.
- Creativity and teamwork — Explore creative movement while learning to collaborate with peers.
- Age-appropriate physical development — Support flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, and healthy movement habits.
Program Structure
The program is designed as a supportive pathway for children who are new to ballet. Beginner A1 and Beginner A2 provide age-appropriate entry points, with learning experiences that can grow in depth and confidence over time.
- Beginner-level progression — Students build skills step by step, reinforcing core concepts as they develop.
- Twice-weekly classes — Each beginner group meets two times per week to encourage consistency and steady progress.
- Year-round learning — The curriculum supports continued learning across the Fall/Summer 2026–2027 program year.
- Age-appropriate instruction — Activities are shaped for children ages 5–10 and their developing bodies, attention, and learning styles.
- Supportive community setting — Classes take place through afterschool and community- based programs where children can learn in a welcoming environment.
